Bristol & Global Warming
Sorry for taking so long since I got back to post, was up north doing the relatives thing. Still ill, now I don't have much of a voice, which is better than the sore throat I guess, is at the level where one of the people who works in a kebab shop here asked what was with the voice, I always to seem to be ill around these weeks (the holidays), does anyone else find this? Or am I just unlucky?
Right, having been out of the loop the last couple of days, I haven't really followed the news, so will add a discussion point (if anyone ever comments!) as I read it, so today, it's climate change with this story:
"The snow is disappearing from Snowdon, scientists have claimed."
Is it fair for nations like the US to still deny that global warming is a problem with this in mind?
I heard an interesting debate the other day on the radio (BBC Radio 4) where they involved the organisation that advises the White House on climate change (the CEI) against a Greenpeace spokesperson. During this debate, an interesting fact came up, the people that advise the White House on global warming, and climate change, are funded by Exxon...what part of that makes this group seem even remotely credible to carry out the job. Then again, Bush is a Texan.

Has it EVER been fair of the US to avoid the problem of Global Warming???
Truth is that no matter how much the facts support the argument that there are too many chemicals etc being pumped into the atmosphere, the balance is always tipped in favour of the big money to be made by industry by carrying on as it does now.
It's sad but nonetheless, it's not likely to change. The only thing that would alter the US government's policy on global warming would be if public opinion changed overwhelmingly to be against it. But that wouldn't happen unless the US was directly at risk.
Until then, I guess the US government just want to concentrate on policies with a more visible effect... which leads to the Iraq war... and the War against Terror (T.W.A.T. for short :P )... Don't get me started on that!
